Well, I just pulled the trigger on a set of reconditioned 172s from Detroit wheel and tire for $1300 and $119 for shipping to Florida.
I figured I would risk the reconditioned rims rather than pay $2200 plus shipping from Garry at Newport for new rims.
Thanks to whomever gave me the info regarding this company!

curious to see how you like them. when you get them give us a full review. i would consider getting 166's from them if you had no issues.

I will let you know. I would buy new if it was only a couple of hundred dollars difference, but I would have ended up paying 2500 with shipping. That is way too much IMO, so we will see. I guess there are other people who used them and they are satisfied. They have an ebay store and a lot of positive feedback.

Detroit and companies like them sell "insurance quality" refinished wheels. It's a pretty big business, maybe not in the BMW world, but in the general run of mill cars that almost always have alloys. They get bent in accidents and replacing them with new factory parts upends the insurance company financials - especially those that foist poor quality aftermarket body repair parts on customers.
If I were buying from them I'd want to know just how badly the wheel they stated with was damaged. Was it a minor bend ... or was it cracked and twisted??

I would be very surprised if you had any problems. DWT is a stand-up company IMHO. I've bought a couple of replacements for them over the years on different cars, and have had zero issues. Congrats on your new rims at a great price.
