Is there a foam or soft backing of somekind that helps hold the entire thing against your existing trunk back. Because if that whole area is held my some screws at the license plate location you would think that would be a prime candidate for some vibration at high speeds when the air swirls around behind the car.

I am sure that is not the case or people on here wouldnt be doing it, but that just seems like it would be the case if the only thing holding it on was in the middle by the license plate.

You already answered your own question. Anyway, there is double-sided tape around the edge.
