How much did you pay for it and where did you get it from?
I ordered it direct from Valentine1.com

It was $399 plus $23 for 2 day FedEx

I like the capital "L" setting but then again, in Pennsylvania, local cops can't use radar so your mileage may vary...

If this is your first detector, don't get comfortable and assume you're immune to getting a ticket. It literally takes years (and sometimes a few tickets) to really learn and/or understand what the unit is telling you when it goes off, etc.

Good luck but be careful!
I spent a few years in the "Pen" because I trusted my radar for one too many things.

Biiiiiiiiiiya!

cangrats! it's the best radar so far in my opinion. As people already said, the best mode is "L". Hardwiring it will make it look clean. mine hardwired on top so i can cover it with sunscreen if the cops stop me. i like the way they do it in the link above, the only thing is if the cops stop you they will see it right away.

And also, for using it: you will see different tiypes of alerts. In my area cops are always on Ka alert. Anything else is usually department stores, satelites, etc. means fals alarm. I already know which one is real threat and which one is not. And always remember that radar is just giving you some info, not saving you from the ticket. So pay attention like you did before you got one

V1 Link I found this website very useful for customizing the setup of my V1. By disabling X-band and adjusting the automatic mute period of K-band I was able to eliminate many "falsies" on my daily commute. Of course, your local police band(s) will dictate how many changes you're comfortable making.

I realize that JDoug550 is happy with his setup but if you're new to detectors and/or new to the V1, I wouldn't recommend making any "custom" changes just yet. "Mike's Lab" is cool (and just one reason why Valentine is a great company) but I think it's best to really become familiar with the unit using the factory defaults before making too many changes. Remember, using advanced logic mode (capital "L") should eliminate pretty much of the X-band false alarms without the need to change settings. A few false X- or K-band warnings may still occur but it might also give the new V1 owner a chance to learn how to interpret the warnings, arrows, etc. by allowing for some practice time without getting any tickets...
