I had one of these installed in my first Saab 9-3 and it worked well. More recently I had the later color version installed in my Saab 9-5 and it worked even better. I purchased mounts from www.proclipusa.com so no drilling or defacing was necessary. I haven't installed it in my 525xi since it has the ipod interface installed.
I cannot give you any specific electrical advice for your installation. The easy easy way is to plug it in a cigarette lighter outlet and plug the audio out into your aux input. On my 9-5, I opened up my center console, tapped into switched power behind the cigarette lighter and ran a cable to the aux input. I was able to hide all of the wiring. Depending on where your aux input is, you may or may not be able to do that. On the later model the control wheel was wireless so I just had to mount it with double back tape. Yours has a wire so you will have to feed that through whatever you mount the controller on.
Good luck.
