Technically you don't "gain" power from a lightened flywheel. It reduces the mass/weight of the stock flywheel and thus, allows the the car to rev up faster. You are freeing up more horsepower so to speak, not gaining any. You won't see anything on a dyno, but your 1st/2nd/3rd gear pulls will be noticeably quicker. At the same time, compared to the heavier stock flywheel, less energy is stored in the wheel, making shifting less smooth. The stock flywheel allows for smooth shifts because of its mass/weight, and its ability to store kinetic energy. You will need some practice to relearn your rev matching with a light flywheel/stickier clutch combo. Rev matching is improved, because it can be done much much quicker.

So basically, not much use on autos right, only manual. But even then, the gains are marginal if any?

If I'm not mistaken, auto's don't have a flywheel. They have a flexplate which is attached to the torque converter. You don't need a lightened flywheel on an auto.

On a manual, it is a worthwhile upgrade that I would do when the time comes to change your clutch, since you'd be paying labor only once.

The gains are there, but apply more so to driveability and acceleration.

Automatic e60's (at least the 550i) does have a flywheel. The part number is 11227560552.

It is possible to gain power (HP/TQ) with a lightened flywheel. Do a google image search and you will see plenty of results/dyno-charts.

Is that actual power gained on a 4th gear pull? Or are we talking power recovered throughout the first few gears.
I was just going on my basic knowledge of these things, didn't search through google
