I finally bit the bullet and ordered my wheels (ouch!!) R10's on the way (silver). If my girlfriend dumps me, at least I love my car.

And if she dumps you I can get sloppy seconds and ask her how the ride quality was in comparsion to both of our E60s.

Your car will look fantastic with those wheels! I too will be interested in what, if any, is the compromise vis a vis everyday ride quality.
I struggled with wheel choice and found it nice to finally make the plunge. I decided that most alternatives to the 166 would not look very good unless I went to 20", and I just wasn't willing to go that far.
