Apple stopped supporting charging via firewire You can charge new devices with 5V only instead of old 12V ... sorry, I know it sucks! Most of the equipment is now useless!

Either of these two charge converters will work. My old 530i had the original iPod Adapter (connector in the glove box) that would not charge my new 3G iPhone. Both of these allowed the old adaper to control and charge the new iPhone.

so that would work on the 1st gen or 2nd gen touch?

does anyone have a 1 gen touch? that can confirm it does not charge? i know the 2nd gen touch had changed and is not supported but how about the first gen? does anyone have one that charges through the ipod interface without an adapter?

i was under the impression that there was a change in the charging method between the 1g and 2g touch so i thought the 1g would work with no adapter since it wasnt like the iphone as the 2g is. looking for some definite input on that though.

I've got the Iphone 3g also and bought the scosche passport. It works perfect for the charging feature. This will also work with the second gen Ipod Touch.

As those idiots from Nokia, that I can't recharge by the mini USB like instead I do with the HTC.

I have the 1st gen iPhone and it's charging when connected to my GW500... I think it should do the same w/ 2G iPod Touch.
