i have a 2006 pre lci 530i, im looking to connect my ipod touch. what options do i have? im fairly mechanical when it comes to automotive electrical hook ups but a novice when it comes to ipod connectivity and compatability. ive only had a ipod shuffle in the past which didnt connect to anything without a headphone jack so i have to learn what im able to do now for my e60. any help would be appreciated. i DO NOT have a hook up currently in the e60 so i would imagine i have to buy the ipod adaptor but im unsure of which one (if there are even options) and how to mount it (ive read some posts about ashtry brackets/mounts). thanx
also, once installed do i need any software updates for the idrive?

Definitely get an iPod adapter. I put one in an '06 650i. Its a DIY if you have a CD changer and recent iDrive SW. BTW, there are kits for iDrive and kits for no iDrive. The most expensive way is to get the BMW kit installed at a BMW dealer. A search should reveal plenty of posts on the matter.

thanx I was being lazy by not searching. I'll check out the prior posts to plan it out
This is a link to the thread: https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=89595
And this is a link to the shop that sells the kit: http://www.aftermarketbulbsshop.com/BMW-iP...bmw-ipodint.htm
Everyting is on this page - instructions, the kit, the Techncal Bulletin. Only thing you have to take the car down to get teh MP3 re-code. It's a plug in - no major work involved.
Yeah, I know, famous last words...

Don't bother with the Ipod kit for BMW. Get the Dension Gateway 500. Far superior in speed and also has USB and AUX and two modes for IPOD.
Take a look at this post. Here is a full breakdown / review. I hope it makes your decision simple.
