My Ride: 2008 525d MSport 19" 172s Leather - Heated No-Nav, M-ASK, MP3 Playback, BMW Ipod Interface, CD-Prep
Default

I wonder if anyone can help me. Got the BMW Ipod Interface Retrofit kit (PN:65.41.2.160.344) which I installed in my car. Car was in at an independent garage to get programmed, but after programming the interface still doesn't work.

When I connect my ipod the ipod screen has a big tick in the middle and says "OK to disconnect". On the iDrive screen I can see the options for CD1, CD2, CD3, etc but they aren't selectable.

Garage thinks the ipod interface might be faulty, but before I go back to the dealer I wondered if any of you guys had any ideas what could be wrong??

Any ideas??

I had similar problem when installing dension 500 in my car .
where did u get it coded ? Autologc or BMW dealer
U might be missing a small part which basially completes loop of this optical ring. this part costs 15 quid from BMW. I think part number was B61.13.6.931.507. it is plugs on right side of glove bow where Torch socket is. it complete MOST ring s loop

According to realoem that part is only for cars without cdc or cdc prep. I have cdc prep. Did you?? And do you have (or could u take) a picture of it and how/where it fits? I don't have a torch in the glovebox. Ta much

1) What they mean is that you have to remove the CDC if one is present.
2) Does your car play MP3 cd in the main unit? ( can you look thru MP3 folders with text on screen?) They might need to add the MP3 retrofit activation in order for your radio to handle the folders and text from the iPod adaptor.

I never had a CD Changer fitted, but the options list from the dealer showed the CD Changer Preparation option (SA694).

I can play an MP3 cd in the main unit, I can browse the folders on the disk and can see the ID3 tags on the iDrive display.

To fit the iPod interface I found the power connector which was taped back as per the instructions. I then located the Fibre Optic loop and pulling the tape back I found the connector block, which I opened to get the 2 ends. Inserted these to the connector that came with the interface, then inserted this block into the power connector. Connected it all up to the ipod interface along with the ipod cable.

I've heard about this additional part that StonedAgain is talking about (Diagnosis Interface MOST), but from the Real OEM site my Ipod Retrofit doesn't need this part because I have the CD Prep option - but it could be wrong. I had a quick look behind the glovebox this morning, but couldn't see anywhere that would take that part - but I could be looking in the wrong place.

hi,
I have the same problem.
The solution to that is upgrading other two car modules to handle the ipod interface.
It cost around 175 quid in M-style in Romford,Essex RM5 2GB, tel-02085989115

I purchased from them the interface for 156 quid with postage and the enabling cost only 50 - 10 pounds so 40 if you purchased something from them for more then 100 pounds
and they enabled that function for me today and i have also like you cd 1 cd 2 cd3 etc... but cannot press it
my needs to be programmed on:
GATEWAY and
USER INTERFACE
to run.
Sadly it cost 175 or more ,depends how much time it will take(6-8 hours somethimes 3 days)
I did not do it taoday cos I run out of cash.

I will look for somebody else to do it cheper in my area later.

Good luck with that.

So the Ipod Coding also needs to be performed on the Gateway and UserInterface modules??

my understanding is car without a Bluetooth and CD changer have nothing on MOST so it needs loop completed when a CD changer or IPOD kit is added. thts wh your Ipod does recognise ipod kit even though is prgrammed to . Using that BMW part worked for me when i installed my dension kit. Inittially i also had similar problem. my drive showed CD 1-6 but it ws greyed out. I can show youpictures as it goes somewhere socket for torch is. its a small part whic just went near right side of glve box.
