Anyone using an ipod photo in combination with the aux input. If the output into my stereo at home is anything to go by the volume is going to be crap. It certainly not line level. I ordered Logic 7 so I need good sound. Am thinking about getting a line level convertor put between the ipod and the aux so I can get decent volumes. If anyone has experience of the ipod photo and aux would be grateful if you could posts your comments. Also, is the aux and RCA(phono plugs) or a mini jack? can't wait til June!

Standard volume is low, you'll need something like the belkin Auto kit to get a bit of pre-amp.
The connector is a 3,5 aux connector.
Tip: let'm make an additional 12v outlet in the glove compartiment as a power source for the belkin.

That is correct. You will want to use a power adapter from Belkin or Monster and that will give you a level of sound that does not require you to mess with the volume of the iPod. If you have the Monster cable it will come with a built in FM transmitter and you can select any radio station.

I have a similar device and there is a whining noise when the plug is in the socket. It is not there when the ipod is playing from battery power direct. Anything I can do about that?

On old radios you needed a filter on the power wire ( I think) to take away humming fromthe speakers. You might need to add a filter soem where, but I am unsure. Does the whine get louder the faster you drive?

You will need a filter of some sort. I will see if I have an old radio with the filter on the line. I am pretty sure that is your problem. You may have to make an adapter or splice a filter on your charger.
