Has anybody on the forum purcgahsed/installed the new ipod module and what are the prices outr there my dealer wants $550.00 for the parts and labor, sounds like alot!!!

There are quite a few people that have and are getting it installed. $550 sounds about right though. $300 parts, plus 2-3 hours of labor at $100/hr.

I just bought the module for $279.00 with my discount. It took me about 1 1/2 hours to install it. I was wondering if anyone installed this unit on their own. If so, did you loose the CD function. I guess it will be there when I get the car programmed.

Yeah I installed mine. Took me about 1.5 hours maybe less. That was due to slowly removing the glove box and locating the hidden screw. I think I could do it in 25 minutes now that I know how to do it.

My car had the L7 without the 6 cd changer, so yes after intall the cd circuit in the idrive menu is shaded out. The central cd still works but the 6 cd function needs to be updated by BWM software (progman) update which I had done last Saturday. Took 3 hours but they only charged me $51. This was cause my car was just purchased and I pleaded with my salesguy to go easy on me. I guess the software update is also for other funtions besides just the ipod integration. The ipod works great.
