I'm about to buy an IPOD interface for my car (2004 530), I called BMW to make sure my car could be programmed to make this work and they are under the impression that only the AUX input option will work. I guess they don't even sell Ipod interface as an option for a 2004 530i. My build date is 09/03 if that helps answer my question.

DOES ANYONE WITH A 2004 530 HAVE AN IPOD INTERFACE INSTALLED ON THEIR VEHICLE?

I have a 1/04 build date(no Nav) and i recently had the Ipod installed at the dealer
As long as you have a CD Changer or your Pre-Wired for a CD Changer then you'll have no problem
If your not pre-wired for a Cd Changer then a AUX input is pretty much your only simple option AFAIK

Costed me $510 for Parts,Installation and Reprograming

+1 I had the iPod adaptor on my 12/03 build 545. No Navigation, but did have the the 6-disc changer in the glove box, which the iPod adaptor replaces... There are limits on the number of songs and playlists you can use with the adaptor, something like 500 songs if I recall. Still fas better than the limited options that the 6-disc changer offers.

Your earlier post never indicated if you were successful in getting the iPod adaptor... The ability to play MP3 is a separate issue from the iPod. You don't need to have MP3 to get the iPod adaptor as you can see from my Dec '03 build. I had no Nav, no MP3 capability but did have the 6-disc changer. The iPod stayed in my glove box and was able to control all iPod functions through the iDrive...

Dealers and service folks are seriously misinformed and poorly trained. You can get the adaptor...

I have an '04 with no Navi and had mine installed about a year and half ago.

No problems with install or integration.

They had to remove the 6 cd changer in the rear, was hardly ever used so no big loss.

Other then that it was coo.

But have now upgraded and looking to sell it.

If anyone is interested.

your 6 disc was in the rear? as in in the trunk? I might be interested in an iPod interface, not sure between that and an AUX input. Does it charge the iPod too or is it essentially an AUX input?
