iPod interface

My Ride: 530i 2007, Adaptive Headlights (Xenon), Auto AC Extended, Logic7, Bluetooth, PDC
After about two days of trying, the local BMW service gave up. He didn't know how to install the new ipod interface. He has already updated to the latest iDrive version, but still couldn't see the iPod. So he re-connected the 6-cd changer.

Bit dissapointed with the idrive and screen integration. Looks like a backward step from the MP3 playlist and track info I get from the single CD slot and an MP3 CD.

I thought the 2007 e60 came already equipped with the connection behind the center console? If not what?s little input plug in the back of the center console between the two cigarette lighters do?
