I connected my ipod with a usb[apple brand] cable and all the music

is available on the idrive;however, when I try to access playlists

an error message pops up-"compatible audio format not found"

on the idrive screen. Any suggestions? Thanks.

The playlists you made in itunes will not show up in idrive when you use a standard apple usb/ipod cable. When you use that cable, the music on the ipod is accessed in "disk mode". The advantage of this is that you get a full digital transfer of the music to the cars audio system. The disadvantage is that you lose the ability to play DRM protected music (most of the music purchased from the itunes store) and you can not access the playlists you created in iTunes.

Your car should have come with the BMW Ipod/USB Y cable. One end goes into the Ipod, the other 2 ends go into the USB port and the AUX port. It splits off the analog audio to the AUX port and gives you all the playlist info and DRM protected music playback ability

In most markets, cars don?t come with the cable, it is an option in addition to the 6FL option.

If you have the 6FL option PM and would like to buy the BMW cable, PM me. I have one for sale.

You have an extra too? How much are you selling it for.

Is it the new cable or the old one?
