My Ride: 2005 545i, Black on black. 6spd MT, Nav, sports package.

I finally picked up my '05 545i, black, w/ sports package, mt, nav yesterday. I am speechless. The car is simply amazing. I will take and post pics soon.

I talked with the customer relations guy, and he told me that there is an iPod attachment available installed for $395. (ipod not included). From what I understand, this option places the iPod in the trunk where it syncs with the computer (while charging), allowing me to browse through songs with iDrive.

Is this true? Has anyone tried this?
Opinions?

I had cd/mp3 player in my previous car, and i just miss the ability to easily transfer mp3's from a computer to the car. CD's just aren't the same.
I tried searching the forum for a similar question and did not find anything.

Thanks.

My dealer advised me that this ipod interface, although available for 1, 3, X5, is
not yet technically available for the E60. Expect it in 2006.

I hope your dealer is right, but I doubt it.

This is what my dealer's service director told me as well, except he wasn't sure when/if it would be available.

Why spend the money, just wait for the Bluetooth Ipod to come out soon. Supposedly this summer.

Bluetooth iPod? So what?

AUX in would be _way_ easier.

Wow.. that would be sweet. I wonder if it would work in conjunction with the bluetooth phone.

I think i am just going to go back to the dealer and find out more about this ipod thing if it is actually available. It sounds like it would be worth the money.

The BT iPod doesn't exist yet - still a rumor (but a pretty good one). The allure is the possiblity of controlling your iPod via iDrive and the steering wheel buttons.
