My Ride: BMW 530d, 2006, steptronic, black sapphire, leather Dakota truffle brown, poplar trim, head-up display , dynamic drive, cruise control, active steering, sports steering wheel, adaptive xenon headlights with headlight washers, high beem assistant, alarm, glass sunroof, comfort seats , advanced A/C, nav professional, voice command, logic 7, cd changer, TV, power rear sunshades, rear airbags, park distance control, auto dimming folding internal mirror, smoking package, fold down rear seats, skibag, “138-style” rims , cup holders, wooden handbrake lever and shifter (poplar), wood on bottom center console, preparation for Bluetooth, comfort access system
Hi,
I have 2006 530d with internal mirror with: auto folding, alarm, hi beam assistant functions. I also have CAS, so I would like to have also integrated remote controller (try to pull anything out of pocket when sitting in the car with seatbelt fastened
).
And here starts my problem. My dealers told me that it is impossible to install such a mirror because ETK doesn't let them order this part. The reason is my car doesn?t have the external mirrors auto folding feature and there is just and only one model of the internal mirror with integrated remote controller and it has also auto folding external mirrors feature. In fact it is true, if they mark an option S430A (auto folding internal/external mirrors) ETK shows mirror with integrated remote controller and when they unmark this option (S430A) it disappears.
It is very hard to believe for me that it is impossible for the following reasons:
1. I?ve tried to configure new car using BMW Configurator on 3 different BMW national sites and it is possible to have a car with integrated remote controller without having auto folding internal/external mirrors on all 3 sites
2. I?ve looked in WDS and TIS and it looks like it shouldn?t be a problem with proper working of that mirror in my car. The mirror is only source of signals for light module and remote controller is completely separated device and it ?needs? just the power supply form the car.
3. I know that my dealer doesn?t even think it is possible or not. For them if ETK says that is impossible then it is simply impossible. When I pushed them to talk with the electronic gay, he confirmed that it should be possible BUT he?s never done it, he doesn?t knew how much time it will take him to do this etc, etc
4. I?ve also looked in ETK (probably earlier version than in the dealership) and it shows that is possible to order that mirror for my car.
So here is my questions:
1. Do you know it is possible or not to install internal mirror with integrated remote controller in my car?
2. If yes, does that installation requires coding or reprogramming the car?
