Hi Guys

I am process of getting ready to retrofit ACC - currently procurring parts

As there is no retrofit kit available, I need to build some of the cabling manually.

I found most of what I need, but cannot find the connectors that goes onto the DSC Pressure sensors that I need to install bacause my car is too old to have the newer generation DSC which has the sensors build in.

The sensors are 34 52 1 164 458.

Can somebody please point me in the right direction?

Hi,

The easiest is to find an used PDC wiring harness including the 12-pin counter connector I have no part number for. Just cut off the excessive 2 PDC connectors on the shorter side and you got yourself a waterproof professionaly insulated harness. Lay it from the upper pressure sensor to the right main wiring harness and from it along the DSC unit harness to the unit itself. There you have to crimp on the pin connectors for the currently empty pins and solder the 2 common pressure sensor wires to a third wire on the DSC unit harness.

I have attached my ACC1 retrofit shopping list.
What is missing on it are the DSC compatible pins which are different from the ones used in the other connectors, I do not have the correct part number at hand.

Cool - thanks for the help. I did not realize that the pressure sensor and pdc where using the same connectors. I will start looking that direction!!
Looks like I have all the other items on your list already - good sanity check

Btw: did you get a BMW technician to calibrate the system after install? I hear it takes some special equipment to align the radar?

No, I bought the sensor used off eBay already mounted to the plastic bracket.
So I just screwed it to the metal holder with the 4 self tapping srews. Both the holes on the holder, as well on the bumper are a straight fit, no repositioning possible, so every sensor bracket gets installed in the same position and angle. It can only be adjusted on the sensor itself and can be done by special BMW equipment with lasers and mirrors, most dealers have to order from a central location. Allegedly, they can only charge you for 2 hours BMW time, regardless how much they spend aligning.
I figured that if it has been aligned in factory, with a new holder it would have the same alignment on my car and the sensor has the ability to correct some slight misalignments.
It worked out for me.

Ok - it too got it used off ebay with it installed in the plastic frame. So I will try to see if it works. I found a description for the alignment you are talking about - looks rather complicated

There is however something which is a bit strange: the part number on the sensor is 66 31 6 769 144, which is for the e60/61 according to ETK. But the part number on the plastic frame is 66 31 6 901 277 which according to ETK is for the E65 7 series. So maybe the sensor came from a 7 series car which would the skrew up the alignment?

Anyway, the plastic bracket does fit nicely in the metal frame. So worst case i will need to go to BMW and make them align it (I hope...)

I found a used PDC wiring set today. Should arrive tomorrow. Hopefully i will have time during the weekend to start the installation

E60 and E65 use the same ACC1 sensor. You will find out after you hook it up to the car what settings it has.
Remember to twist the PT-CAN wires when preparing the wiring harness, you do not want strange behaviour of other vital components.

Yes, I will be careful with the wiring! Also, I will do a full car code once I have change the VO to reflect ACC instead of CC - which should then correct whatever setting in the ACC module which would be particular to E60.

How is the project coming on?
I'm interested in doing this retrofit myself. Is there any preference for installing ACC1 instead of ACC2? (Is ACC2 harder to retrofit?)
