Installed OEM M166 and LOSE acceleration power!

Anyone experience this? I used to have 16' rims and i noticed the acceleration is kinda quicker than the 19's M166 rims (w/ michelin tires all seasons)..it like a bit slower when i press on the gas...i always try to step on it at the light

first the brakes now this...perhaps you should just go back to the 16" wheels....
but seriously....no acceleration decrease here when i went from my 18" 124's to my 19" 166's....
try a 25 sec transmission reset trick (before you ask, https://5series.net/forums/index.php?showto...18&hl=trick )
could be the bigger circumference of the 19" wheel tho....

someone going from the extra-heavy 124s with the run flats to 19s without runflats would probably shave some weight off, but going from the stock 16s that probably weigh 45-48 lbs with tire to the 166s probably netted you a gain of 10 lbs per side. this is why lightweight forged wheels (and the lightest rubber you can get) is so important, especially on a car with a smaller engine. it doesn't sound like much, but it affects rotational inertia. it's most noticeable right when you start rolling, not so much once you're at speed, but yes, it is very noticeable.

What model do you have? 530? 545? etc..
Reason I ask is because an engine with less torque will provide more feedback (lack of acceleration) with the larger wheels.

This is a good point-its because your weight increased per wheel-shows you how much acceleration is to be lost or gained-that is why shaving 12-15 pounds off total weight of tire/wheel is huge and increases acceleration a ton-but go the other way and it goes down!

Sorry to say but there lies your problem. With only 175ft-lbs of torque, putting heavier wheels on, like others stated, will definitely affect performance.

Increasing your wheel diameter by three inches will absolutely degrade acceleration. Increased weight and rotational mass, double whammy !!!!!
