today i finnaly received my shift knob that i ordered on July 6th. from a company called car lab. they were on ebay selling a replica shift knob that mimics the new 5 series knobs. This knob is for looks only, and will function like your original knob. it just gives you a much nicer and more updated look. I am happy with the knob, but when i go to work next week, i will be cutting down the shifter and make the knob sit flush with the trim so its not tall. but heres how it looks installed on the car.

heres the link to the ebay part. it also can come without the M logo they say...up to you i guess.

Will look great when cut down. Is the silver parts real aluminium or painted plastic?

I think there was a thread in the vendor forum, the oldies section, where some members discussed about trimming the shifter so it looks lowered. Seller was Schulrog or something like that. Another member has done this awhile back but most here thought it was a bit too high and will get in the way of the cd when ejected.

Can't wait to see the final result. OP make sure you wrap on the bottom of the shifter to prevent the metal particles get in there.

It's neffy wrap from www.neffywrap.com , it's like a cloth wrap. Did all my wood trim in it

Look into a rhd version because the company is in Taiwan. Maybe they make them.

I'm gonna look that up. But Im only going to trim off a little bit at a time so I can get the right height. Yea I will cover up my center console so no particles scratch anything. Thanks though.
