Installed M5 OEM reinforcement pull rod
Realoem is showing a different part number for the E61M5: 51618042815 and 51618042816 (It does not list the price but adds "+core" under "notes").
It seems they are specific to the E61M5. Now I am really confused... Not sure 51618040051 will fit the E61...

Ricky if I enter the pull-rod part nr. on the RealOEM cross-reference, I get a huge list of sedans from 520d up to the M5, implying these pull rods are mounted on all these sedans:

This is weird - can you give an explanation from your research? Have you seen them on another factory E60 apart from the M5?
Maybe they are stock equipment for some "bad road" markets?

you can also key your VIN number under http://bmwfans.info/ to find the part number.

We were hoping to get the same bars as you, as you already proved that they fit.
Now it seems the E61 has other braces, which means that the ones you got will not fit..

I found 51618040051 and 51618040052 for E60 only. Should use 51618042815 and 51618042816 for E61, seem there should have a slot for 51617147515 and 51617147516 pass through.

I think these two photos should explain the details for E61 how to install.

Installed the Pull Rods today! Pretty easy install even on car ramps in the home garage.
The original middle brace was a challenge. I didn't turn mine upside down but I did cut out a slot for the pull rod to fit in and notched out the "hump" so the rod would sit flush and as close to the chassis as possible
Waiting on my M5 rear sway bar to arrive from Germany
