Does the metal heat shield partition off the filter from the engine bay as well as a box (ie, the stock intake or rather the Dinan one)? Sucking in hot air from the engine bay would not be good. I live in TX and in the middle of summer, there may not be much difference between outside air and whats in the engine bay....

1) How does this intake (AFE) increase air flow into the intake system (above stock) for better sound and performace?
2) How often does filter need to be cleaned and what do you clean it with?

Yes the heat shield cover the airfilter and the air flow is still coming from the stock air system from the front grill.
1. the AFE increases more air flow by the air filter. The air filter is an inverted cone design, w/ a full velocity stack, and the filter has minimal wicking.
2. the filter has to be cleaned about 15k miles or 10k in more dustier conditions.
