i`m sure this topic has been brought up many times but i would like to know if a novice could put in an afe kit on a 2007 530i. the other thing is that on a website i just read said that the maf sensor needs to be cleaned after a few ours of use. is this true? when i owned infiniti`s in the past i never worried about this kind of thing and i owned a g35 and fx35. please give me some insight.

Ask rewhiteblue. He had one on his 530i, and removed it when he personally installed his supercharger. he should have intimate knowledge of the install.

good luck

I tried it. It's not bad, but getting at the clamp screw near the throttle body was a real pain. I was worried about dropping a screw driver in the engine bay and then being really screwed, so I stopped, put everything back together and had a local shop do it for $50. It was well worth it. Have a pro do it.

+1 on that. I just had mine done yesterday at a local shop, paid $90. Just not worth the hassle in my opinion if a professional install is so cheap.

No, although I have only just put it on, so no long term experience. I also chose the blue filter option.
