Install of Head-up display & TV module E61
I have recently purchased a 2009 530xd touring /E61.
Q1: It is not equipped with Head-up display but has Navi pro. Does anyone know if there is a possibility to install a used BMW original HU display in my car? If so, is it difficult, and what preparations are needed? Has anyone installed HU in a car that is not originally equipped with it?
Q2: car does not have a TV reception module but the bigger 8.8" display (nav-pro). Is it difficult / complicated to install & connect a BMW TV module to the system? Except for the module, what other cables (antenna?) are needed and how / where are these installed in the car?

As far as the HUD I hear this is quite a task as you would have to cut the dash. Additionally you would need to replace the windshield for one that can reflect the HUD unit. Of course you would need more equipment to get it working but just those two mandatory changes was enough for me to scratch it off the list.

HUD has been done but its probably best to buy a new car!

... but TV module, how complicated is that to add? Car has Navi Pro & 8.8" screen.
- Are there after market TV modules available with same quality as BMW original + able to control in the same way, through iDrive?
- Where do i add the module in the car, and do I have to install antenna wires? If yes, where should the antenna be installed for best reception?
- NB: Sweden does not send analogue signals, only digital, standards are DVB-T & DVB-T2, same as in most European countries like Germany.
- If after market (non BMW) brands are of same or better quality as BMW original module, which one offers best quality?

Pm me your VIN no. and I can get you the part no. for the TV retrofit kit from the ETK, in the UK the kit is around £1100.
The module goes in the boot on the left side, you will need a new left side boot liner as well and yes a new antenna will need to be fitted but this in the kit.
The module is both analogue and digital and is for all of Europe.
