Carbon fiber is actaully a high heat resistant material,
If you think logically about the process, it carbonizes in the degrees of thousands; around 2000 celsius.

Well i used to have an HKS carbon titanium muffler on my TT Supra and after a few months the carbon fiber turned into a solid black.... and that's NOT because it was dirty... I guess the heat of the exhaust fumes melted the fibers together.

QFT. I've had a few Ferrari claims for engine fires and all that was left was left of the body panels were sheets of carbon fiber draped over the rims. Its the resin that turns black. So the important thing to know is what are the properties for the epoxy resin being used?
