I got R?MER seats for my chidren.
They are great. The materials are fine and the product is real good.
They have it with ISOFIX if you want.

Britax Isofix.
Type of seat will depend on age - above would be OK for 9/12 to 4 years approx.
I'm not sure whether Britax is the same company name in USA

My Ride: 2005 545i Sport, Premium, Logic 7, Jet Black, Black Leather, M-Aero Kit, 15% (very dark) Tint, Eichbach Lowering Springs, Red Brake Calipers, Radenergie R-10's, Michelin PilotSport2 in 245/35/20 and 285/30/20, Rolled Fenders, and a nifty Graco Baby Car Seat.
Next Up: Xenon fogs, Eisemann Exhaust, iPod Interface, Comfort Seats.
We brought our son home from the hospital in Graco Snugrider. It's a system where you buy a base for each car, and one carrier that snaps into either base. It's a bit more expensive, but it's easy to swap the baby from my car to my wife's, and it's top rated for safety.
They key is to buy the Kiddopotamus Snuzzler- it's a padded fleece-like insert that goes inside the car seat, and keeps the newborn from rattling around inside it, keeping them firmly in place which is important for them as newborns. As they grow a bit bigger, you just remove the snuzzler.
Graco makes a stroller, into which the Snugrider carrier snaps, so you can easily go from car to car to stroller without every having to unstrap or disturb your baby. It's fantastic, and as noted, top rated.
This system is good for up to 22 pounds, which is about a year or so.
The LATCH system makes getting car seats in a breeze, although with the e60 they have to be on either the right or left side- middle positioning which is safest in the event of a side impact is not recommended in the e60, because the middle bolster protrudes and the spacing of the LATCH's are too wide there.

Between my two boys, we've had four Britax seats. Love them, easy to use, comfortable for the boys and both fit in the trunk for when it's adults only...

If you want convenience, then there are quite a few 'travel systems" on the market. These come with a stroller, an infant car seat and a base which you can install permanently in the car. You can then transfer the car seat from the base to the stroller. We used the Graco for our son when he was an infant.

bmw545, i would recommend getting the isofix plastic part which helps save the leather when using isofix. i think what ever seat you use it will still separate the leather where the latch is. dunno the part no. but here's a picture:

My wife says Britax are the best rated (most expensive too)! I was fortuneate that they come in a color that matches my car. What ever you decide, make sure you get the new style which includes the LATCH system. My kids are 3 months, 2.75 years, and 12. All 3 fit in the back although its a tight fit for the 12 year old daugher!
