This was my initial thought as well, turning them over though I realised there's limited space for the LED tablet due to the installation design/requirements (there's a combination of clips and adhesive stickers along with the wiring) so basically they couldn't do much more... During the day it's visible as a chrome BMW logo, at night the LED lights up the rear almost in holographic fashion - overall, it's well thought out.

Hi RootKit, yeah it croosed my mind mate, that would be defo the plan if it were just a straight power/earth tap somewhere nearby - but each wire harness (front left/right and rear left/right) has an inverter. Power needs to be straight from the fuse box as an additional fuse is added plus the signal tap to the KBM module (interior lighting) to provide each door with the correct signal. There's a central earth point nearby as well. Great BMW engineering though; cable length, material and install instructions all perfectly matched.
