I am currently trying to start retrofitting my car to ccc and I am trying to remove the I drive knob and I took out the initial knob by pulling straight up. There is a white dial right under the knob and I'm not sure how to remove it. I checked georgieb's thread and still confused I don't see how he took it out. Thanks everyone.

here's a pic. i started my install as well...the first step for me will be cutting the base plate for a CiC iDrive controller retrofit (gotta get my $$ worth with this new dremel tool!)

looking closely at it all....i think the entire center console needs to be lifted out. so i went to real oem and found some diagrams of the center console to find the screws/locking pins.

unless, someone has an easier route.

yea it seems like we got the same problem i was thinking about taking the whole console out as well but i've seen others who i believe accomplished it without doing so

You are right, the center console must be removed/lifted before you can remove the item.

here is a link to how to wire it:

https://5series.net/forums/topic/994.../page__st__240

i use a little tiny pin to get in there and release each little plug...i learned that when i was re-wiring my mirrors this past wknd. once u learn that pushing on the head of the wire clip releases it and allows you to slide it out of the plastic connector/housing....it makes it really easy to take out each plug, switch them around and effectively re-wire whatever you need to work on.

on a sidenote, your wiring harness/plug should arrive in the mail today via USPS.

im about to measure 3x and cut once on my center console right now....its sitting in the middle of my living room as i type this. had to give up on coding tho, i kept getting a VIN is Faulty error in NCS Expert
