Can anybody tell me what this black box does? I am _hoping_ it's the puny little amplifier that comes as standard with the UK stereo. If it is, it will be much easier for me to put a new amp in. I know on the L7 and hi-fi stereo options, there are one or two silver amps on the left hand side of the boot but in my car, all that's on the left hand side of the boot is, um, the boot. No boxes at all. So this little black box on the right hand side is my last hope!

Hopefully, it's not the same company that makes components for NASA space shuttle

Damn Thanks for the info - but this means that retrofitting a new amp is going to mean running lots of new cable I am now thinking it might be easier to fit two amplifiers - one for the rear speakers mounted in the boot, and one for the front speakers and subs mounted somewhere behind the glovebox.

Satan,

the amp for sub is on the left of the boot. Approx size is 12cm x 9cm x 5cm.

You'll see the amp mounted 45 degree and TCU is mount upward.

Best Regards

In the UK, the standard stereo has the subs wired in parallel with the front door speakers. There is no separate amp. The left hand side of my boot underneath the trim is just foam - no wires, no amp In my last E60 I had logic 7 so know what the amp(s) look like, but they definitely aren't there in the new car!!
