It's actually pretty cool. I own the 535xi 2008 and I like the way it shifts into gear better than the old shifter. I had a 2002 525I sport and I liked the shifter but the new one snaps back into the middle position after the gear engages. If you put it in reverse and then need to drive forward you slap in back and ot goes into drive automatically. I like it alot.
