My Ride: "Angel I's" 2005 525i Debadged, Remote Homelink, Full Burl Package, Cold Weather PKG, Premium Sound PKG, BMW Wheel Stems, Biege Rubba Matz, EURO Tag, Dual Zone Vents, Automatic Car Ventilation, Rescue Kit. Due up: Aux Input, TINT, and K&N Filter and some Zaino LOVE for my Angel.
Question

I had a few friends see my Angel for the first time and they had a couple of comments. It never ceases to amaze me that people just can't be happy for you when you have a NEW "Whip" (HOTT RIDE").

Comments not particularly in order as stated:

1. "I would have gotten the 745!!"

2. "You have to get some rims on it."

3. "You HAVE to tint it up."

4. "It looks like an old man Beema."

5. "It's clean, sweet interior"..(Dakota Leather Biege).

6. "You don't have NAV?"

7. "People I know said they would rather have a Benz!"

AT times I would call some of these statements .."HATERation".

But looking at what they are driving, C230 Benz, Chevy Yukon, other stuff, I let it go as just comments.

Here's my look at it. I'm not rich, I work hard for a livin' and would like to direct my funds elsewhere, ie: Studio Upgrades,
another hooptie and other things. But that aside, even if I had expendable income to do upgrades, I just like my car clean and original. The Porsche was original, and I just think that more expensive cars should be kept natural. First reason.......resale. Whether privately or trade-in, some upgrades ar a loss in the end. I don't intend to keep it longer than 50K or BEFORE the warranty expires. 2. My tint may not be what another wants, 3. rims included. Now I have to keep rims and try to sell them, more than likely at a loss.

I COULD see rims, and you guys have done EXCELLENT work on your cars, but when you trade it or sell it, do you intend on getting you REAL cost for the mods? I can justify convenience mods, AUX input, lighting upgrades (minus angel eyes...too much money for bulbs), and maybe some trimming.

The question...FINALLY is:

Who's NATURAL

Who's MOD lovers

The Porsche GT is a fantasy, until I get a record deal!!!!!

I'm with you all the way. I like my cars fully original. That being said, I saw some awesome rims on this forum....

W.r.t. the response 'you should have bought ...' (... = bigger engine, bigger car, bigger wheels):
you probably bought something very near to their dream car :-)
Difference of course is that you actually optimise the car you buy, taking the costs into account, while they can just complete their dream car in their dreams. Of course they advise to go all the way.

Enjoy your car!

I had a similar thing. I recently ordered a 520d LCI due to arrive mid-May. I already had to explain to some friends that for me and my family 166 bhp and 223 km/h (138 mph) is enough. Furthermore, just bumping up to 525d would add EUR 200 to my monthly insurance+road tax bill & that's not worth it for me.

sometime when i look at other who have modded out i wish i could do the same, like you i also work damn hard and dont have that extra cash to do extra, i know for for one thing if there was a mod out there that can totally enhance the look of the car it would be the rims and so i did and lowered a bit and thats it , oh yeah most importantly the E60.NET CLINGS , just got mine and my car is like a new car all over again , wanted a full kit with spoiler but everone that i talk to and comment on the car say..... thats all you need and nothing else, i have to say im happy with just the 2 mods,MOD OR NO MOD , the car is still a eye catcher. anyways that all,, ericd...oh yeah the others who comment you shouldve gotton ths and that and you have a old mans car,... HATERS, just my opinion.

PMSL

Have you tried "smash and grab"?

In the UK mods are difficult, it is hard to get insurance on ANYTHING not standard.

Wheels make all the difference for me, and the cost is the price you pay for the pleasure.
At least they are easy to remove at the end.

I like your story I thought it was stolen from my car they say the same always. I respect natural things and also stock cars, I ordered also a stock car

as HAMANN told me to have a full HAMANNed out car the stock is better than M pack- note that time teh M pack parts splitters and diffuser were not even on paper exisiting - so here is my opinion:

different cup of coffees different people, me I luv to play and rebuild things, the best was my car and luv it now with not HOT rimz and will luv it more once will be finished, but the nicest car of all is still Iceman's 100% stock LOL
