I think I was one of the first remus quad installs on a 550i. In any case, I love it. When I hit that start button in the morning, the car roars on, then quiets down. When I drive normally, it's quiet, and never any droning around town or on the freeway which was my #1 reason I got the remus. Above 3500rpm, the thing is sick! Roars, makes heads turns and just makes me grin ear to ear.

But... I'm wondering if I remove the big resonator up front ( i believe on the 550 it's an upside down Y with 1 large resonator up front, then splitting back to 2 smaller ones in the rear) what's it going to sound like?

So I doubt anyone else has, but I'm hoping someone has... 550, quad remus, with the resonator up front gone.

Maybe some 550 owners who have deleted the resonator up front in general, they can chime in? Was their droning, did it get louder, and by how much?

Any suggestions? Should I do it? I guess it's not an expensive experiment, that is to remove, then if it's too loud, put it back on. I just have to find a shop I trust close by. I'm in redwood city, CA if anyone has a recommendation.

General rule of thumb, your exhaust will get louder, will drone, may sound better/worse without the resonators...

I did a xpipe in the front, and straight pipes all the way back to the mufflers... chcek out my video sounds killer... Im positive 550 would sound sick, but it will drone!

Heres my 545i with the Remus Quad with the deleted front resonators.

There is absolutely no droning. I recommend you get it done. Cost me 40 buck to get the straight pipes.

Very clean sound! I actually expected it to be louder!

By front resonator, do you mean the one by the Intake? or the one behind the muffler?
