E60, E61 Parts, Accessories and Mods Discussion about both stock and aftermarket parts for the E60. Accessories and modifications too!

I have a hunch modding's not over yet...

Tomorrow I will hopefully install the amplifier for the subwoofer.

Left rear door insulations removed:

The controller module had to be removed in front doors before the insulation became removable:

Rear doors were dampened too of course, but no pics of them. I will damp some parts in the trunk also.

So, when installing the sound dampener, what exactly are you looking for? In other words, what parts are you covering and why? I do understand how dampening works but I am interested in why it was put where you put it.

Mostly I put it to reduce road noice.
For now I've covered only the outer door sheets.

For some reason not much progress today .
Only the base plate for the extra amplifier and some more Dynamat.

The idea was to mount the amp next to L7 amp on the left corner of the trunk. I wanted a simple install and I had seen this done many times so...

While Eric started with removing the L7 amp to get some more working room...

...I started to make the rack.

After making the bracket and some quick paint, the rack looked like this attached to the chassis.

With the Focal Solid 1 mono amplifier.

The original cover fits still nicely.

Eric suggested that we should damp the metal roof in the trunk (the bottom of the parcel shelf). He started the job by cleaning the surfaces attentively.

Unfortunately the open acetone bottle in a closed space took its toll on Eric!

After waking him up and some ventilation we were able to continue.

Later in the evening Eric continued working with the rack.
