I;m an idiot as usual!

I layed it down in the oven by mistake and the paint chipped!! ARRGGHH!! Now I really have to paint more coats!!

Awesome looking. Do you think you will ever have to touch these up or do you think it's not going to fade?

Help me understand the need for high temp paint on the exhaust tips ... if it were the exhaust manifold or downpipe I'd understand ... it's not likely the tips would ever reach the temp you noted [2000 degrees F] in your post.

That's a VERY VERY good question. When I bought it, I asked myself the same question. There was 500F engine paint and VHT 2000F high temp paint. I was like, might as well!

damn...i maxed out my oven at 550F

Sorry to break it to you but putting them in the oven is totally uncessary. Painting them and letting dry 10 minutes per coat and installing. Then next time you drive for more than 20 minutes your pipes will do the cooking for you and "bake" them-silliness but if you want to put that in your oven then have fun!

I have had two prior sets I painted black like this and they lasted for as long as I had the car.

They look great!
I painted mine this summer and they've lasted well.
