I was thinking of upgrading the idrive screen from a 6" to the larger 8.8" but would I need to have my CCC updated????

Also are the connections the same???

I have just had my CCC updated when I had an ipod connectivity kit fitted at the beginning of this month. it took them 2 days took reprogrammed it :thumbsdown: but got a courtesy car for a day, only a 318d but at least i was mobile.


My car is a 2006 (56 plate) 530d M sport in carbon black with Dakota black leather.

If you now have a 6.5" screen , you don't have a CCC ( Central Car Computer ) but a M-ASK unit ( Multi Audio System Kontroller ), and therefor a opgrade to a 8.8" screen will not be possible , if you try , you will get a total wrog pitcure ( image to high up ,and 1 third of the right screen will be blank/withe )

Du you have the small navigation allready ( Business M-ASK with 6.5" screen ) a upgrade will requiere new CCC , I-Drive controller HIGH and a 8.8" screen , if no navigation at all at this point , you will also have to change the "Sharkfin" antenna on the roof ,to one with GPS function , and you will also need to get your car coded to navigation.

So it is not "just" to put in another screen in , and then expect it to work , sorry , but it is not so simple .

I do not have any sat nav bulit in to the car. I only have the basic M Sport model, the only addition when new is the Dakota leather seats.

I resently had the ipod connectivaty kit fitted.
