Could be a matter of taste, or a matter of Kroners.

I will be buying the M-tech bumpers and sideskirts but will probably not
get the mirrors and i'll explain why.

The M-tech is standard on 08 & 09 sport package while my 06 was not.
It was an option that the 1st owner chose not to get and i don't have to make the
same choice.

I love my 550 and wouldn't want to seem like i'm trying to make it look like an M5.
What i do want is for it to look like the nicest 550 around.

If someone confuses it with an M5 and then realizes that its 550
i hope they'll say "Thats the baddest lookin 550 i've ever seen."

I hope this answeres your question.

You have to realize M5 mirrors cost 1k USD... not everyone wants to pay that much for it.

Wait... Bumpers (Mtech or M5 front and rear) are wonderful because they look good, NOT because they are from M5.

Obviously, on the fastest E60 BMW installs from the factory better bumpers, but they are bumpers, not motorsport bumpers.

In other words, in 2004 an E60 with Mtech looked good and no need to simulate the M5.

Coming to mirrors... They are EXPENSIVE as hell man: here they cost (EACH) EUR 700+ 20% VAT + painting + installation ... You can find a bargain, but you cannot spend less the 6-700 EUR for a pair.

The reason I dont want to put the M5 mirrors is because,... I DON'T Understand if it will work with all the features.

Will it fold when my car doesn't have that feature? Will the autodiming work? Will my LED lights under the mirror work on M5 mirrors? Do M5 mirrors have that feature in the first place? Will the car software have to be updated? Must I pay for that? Wiring the same? Straight forward Retro fit?

Too many unanswered questions and trying to search on the forum gives me a headache. Hours spent reading, reading reading and I am still clueless. Simply put, I gave up on this. Just live with the mirrors I have. It still serves it purpose.

cheers
