Dear e60 Forum Members:

I am in a bind and need your help. I am told by a BMW dealer in Atlanta that the BMW OEM 19 inch 166m rims will not fit a non M5! I am told the reason why they will not work on a non M5 is because of the massive braking system on the M5 only works properly with this new hub type 19inch 166m rims, and I will have to stay with the 18 inch 135 M rim.

QUESTION: Does anybody here at e60 actually have the new 2006 BMW OEM 166 rims on your non e60 M5? Do you have any problems, and if so, what kind? Also do you have any regrets buying them?

Thanks in Advance.

Eddie Presley

That does not make sense.

I could imagine the M5 might have issue with the smaller wheels due to the larger breaking system on the M5 but why would a larger wheel with more space have issue on the non M5?

I have an 2004 E60 525i with OEM 166 M5 wheels mounted on Michelin PS2s tires and I have no issues. I know of other forum members that have exactly the same wheel config.

The M5 wheels have the same bolt pattern as other non-M5 wheels. Don't believe what they're telling you.

Hopefully other members will tell you the same.

yes, check the forum, a number of members have the 166 rims with no issues. Most dealers don't know the cars very well. The first time I went to order my style 135 rims I was told they were only available for the M3 and would not work on my E60. The 135's are going on tomorrow! Do your homework as, not surprisingly, you'll know more than the dealer/parts department.

Hi Your Bimmer looks great!

By the way I need to know for the BMW dealer in the morning, if these are these BMW 19 inch OEM 166M's or replicas?

Are you running 255-40-19's?

Thanks in Advance.

I too have the OEM 166s with PS2's and no problems. Your dealer is woefully misinformed. My dealer installed them and my SA said everything would be fine but recommended an alignment. My pics are in the mod gallery.

I too have this set-up. I also run 245's on the front and 275's on the back. It fits fine and looks even better!

Order em up you won't be disappointed.

Looks like as usual the dealer does not know what they are talking about. There are MANY members here that already have original (non-replica) 166's on their regular E60, including our Admin Mark (Lomag). I think you MAY have potential problems if you run the same tire sizes as the M5 (although I am not sure), however, if you use the sizes that members have mentioned you should be fine.
