I just received my wheels from HRE for a 550i. They are 20x9 offset 8, 20x10 offset 18. I put them on the car, drove no more than 3 block and i heard the fron fenders rub. Are the wheels to big for the car. Need some help here, spent too much money on these wheels for the car to sit in the garage. Thanks.....

The wheels aren't too big; et8 offset on the fronts sounds too aggressive.
I don't think that would ever work. What size of tires are you running on
the fronts. And has your car been lowered?

I wonder if they built your wheels based on the M5 specs.

I'm pretty sure the 8 offset on the front is too aggressive, I believe the the max offsets are 12 and 17, someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You spent too much money without looking up the facts, I'm afraid.

Front wheels should not be more than 8,5 x 20 ET (or offset) 12 with 245/30 20" tires.

The rear wheels should be max 10,0 x 20 with min ET 20 and with 285/25/20" tires.

Some may have even more specified knowledge.

I also ask, what tires do you have (F and R)?

You need to talk to your vendor -- if you told them the wheels were for a 550i, they shouldn't have supplied you with those offsets. Like the guys wrote above, those simply won't fit up front with ET 8.

Ideal offset on your front rim of 9" would be ET18 with a 245 tire. For the rear on a 10" rim and 275 tire, it would be ET23...assuming you could get a rim with that offset. You might be able to get away with the rear offset you have...or not. I guess you'll find out.

The tyre sizes seem fine. BMW wraps the 7er 20" rims with 245/40 and 275/35, so yours simply have slightly lower tyre walls, which in turn would mean a bigger gap to the arch.

As I wrote before, I suggest you take this up with the vendor. ET 8 on a 9" wide rim for a 550i is simply wrong! Like mrfra wrote up front, maybe they did this based upon M5 specs?
