the race springs are a 2" drop all around (off of a non-sport) and because of the more dramatic drop, it is highly recommended that you go with aftermarket shocks from the beginning. most go with the sports (or eibach pro-kit) when going with springs because they complement the stock shocks more since the drop isnt too significant. some members in the past have gone with them, you can check for member vegastrashed he had them on his past 545.

For the money you will spend on springs + shocks, i would say spend a little more and get affordable coilovers. Its essentially the same thing with the added bonus of height adjustment.

not necessarily cuz a perfectly matched spring/shock combo will do better than coilovers

True. But in our case the most common setup I've seen is h&r/eibach with koni/bilstein. This can cost between 800-1000 with install. A few hundred more and he can have height adjustments. I've gone with shocks/springs combo on other cars, and months after I have regretted not spending a little more for coilovers. In this case, he's going with h&r race. If he were getting the sports, then ya, just stick with shocks because drop isn't an issue. But if he's going for race, then he obviously wants it to sit low, and with no option to change the height later, he could get stuck if he decides that its TOO low for his driving habits.

In any case, good luck with whatever decision you make!
