I got the M footrest, but does anyone know how to remove the old stock footrest? It appears that there's a clip on the top of the new one, do I need to remove some trim first to get the old one off?

Thanks for any advice!

I have the Hamann pedals and installed the footrest over the top of the existing one that's rubber. Looks fine and you can't even tell!

Okay, thanks, but anyone with the BMW M foot rest? How did you remove the stock one?

The stock one is glued into its place. You have to warm it with a heat gun if you want to get it out in one piece. Or then you can rip it off like I did: Footrest Change - DIY

Thanks so much! So did you have to remove the trim above to get the clip into place?

More than likely it is plastic welded from behind so you would need to remove or pull back the carpet enough to get to in. I am sure this is the case, since the Z4 and X5's are... I think it's a pretty standard process from the carpet mfg since the foot rest arrives pre-installed on the carpet. Most of the aftermarket kits simply attach over the existing factory cover as other as mentioned. Not quite sure how well they stay fixed though,. I guess it would depend on the method and material supplied to attach it...
