Did the rpm goes up to 8000? Or it will stop at the limit of your car.
Thanks
Thanks
No, impossible, only 4500 rpm for diesel, ahahah!
Diesel members need a device that duplicates the rpm, so they can reach the 9000 rpm!
For petrolV8, when you remap it's possible to increase rpm limiter : my 545i now could arrive until 6600 rpm but I think it should be possible to increase more ...

Dealer needs to reprogram the cluster. Not sure if it can be done.
Try Fred, try!

hello forum,
i got myself an e60 m5 combi-instrument (see pic), because i had the speed limiter removed and the standard instrument stops showing more than 260km/h whlist the m5 runs a 330 km/h scala. see signature if wanna know whatelse i modded.
i plugged it on (same plug), it worked from the very start no prob.
unfortunately idrive keeps telling me that the car has a severe prob with the gearbox. i suppose this is because my car has an automatic gear shift what an m5 doesn't have.
has anyone faced this one already and found a working solution?

Wow, now i have so many questions....how does the rpm cluster work since you have a diesel?! How does it indicate? Is the speedo accurate? Does the temp gauge work? What about engine temp that's shown on the rpm gauge in colours as the engine gets warmed up?
I really find it hard to bealive all the above work and even that it can ever work. At least the rpm cluster is a big issue if you ask me and will look kind of dull. But i wish you the best with this and keep us posted. I aswell was wondering where can i find a bigger scaled speedo gauge since after the remap the stock one just won't do.

Please don't think your v8 at 6600rpm is a F1 car at 18000rpms it's just 1600 rpms over the diesel (if we are talking all alone about rpms). And i am sure it would be able to raise the rpm limit in mostly all petrol powered cars but only if it is functional (aka has to be in concordance with the new map of the ecu). I mean it's pointless to raise it if the remap doesn't help it and that extra rpm isn't juiced. Even so don't fool yourself into thinking you can reach the magical 8250rpm point of the M5

hello,
thanks for all the replies.
some PN'ed me if i just paid 200? for it, YES i did and bought it at Ebay.
as said before the instruments show:
-speed
-rpm
-engine temp
-left gasoline
-all bordcomputer info
it looks a little ridicolous seeing the rpm scala going up to 9000 rpm and the diesel just doing half of it
what i just wanted is to have a speedo that shows the speed. i had the car remapped and the speed limiter removed. maybe some of you know about the hidden gps menu, where you can see the real speed measured by gps. i stopped pushing after it showed 273 km/h when the summer tires were mounted.
still no ideas how to fix the warning which idrive punches out?
[i would like to keep the cluster it looks nice ]

guys, i found a workaround in the meantime.
the instrument cluster consists of two "systems", this is the display and speedo+rpm unit and another which stores eletric devices, chips and stuff.
you can disconnect them, the speedo+rpm is connected through a thin cable each.
so i used the 535d processing unit and connected the m5 instrument layer.
speedo works fine, gasoline indic. ok, the rpm is almost 2x the real speed the engines runs and the oil temp is the consumption indicator, wu-hu this looks most scary
besides everything is fine, i have winter wheels mounted already and stopped where the speedo showed around 275 km/h seems to work and do for what i bought it.
i'm happy now and it looks soooooooo damned cool
