hello forum,
i got myself an e60 m5 combi-instrument (see pic), because i had the speed limiter removed and the standard instrument stops showing more than 260km/h whlist the m5 runs a 330 km/h scala. see signature if wanna know whatelse i modded.
i plugged it on (same plug), it worked from the very start no prob.
unfortunately idrive keeps telling me that the car has a severe prob with the gearbox. i suppose this is because my car has an automatic gear shift what an m5 doesn't have.
has anyone faced this one already and found a working solution?

Did you just swap it with your normal tacho?

I am bit surprised as I asked some tuners around to get a tacho with 280 as I could do sg near that so they confessed as the electronics are totally different they canNOT do it.
I know some sells for over 1-2000? net but that is too much. To change the dial is not enough as we have not the same electronics as for the ///M cars
But if it works for you, may be you have the errors because of that.Check that with your dealer.

hi,
thanks for your answers so far.
i have a 535d and this one only existists with automatic gear box "steptronic".
the m5 instrument cluster cost was around 200 Euros.
after connected the instruments show:
-speed
-rpm
-other bordcomputer data
it does not show the oil-temp.
i'd be fine with that so far, the major problem is, that the idrive keeps saying i got a transmission problem should drive carefully and consult the next bmw-service asap.
it always happens when i start the engine and when i'm using the automatic mode.
after i shift into steptronic modus, the error is gone.
my understanding is, that probably the instrument only works with smg from the m5. my car sends information that it is in "automatic" gear shift modus instead and idrive thinks there's a transmission problem.
on the other hand i read that m5 drivers also got that problem and got it fixed by bmw dealer.
any idea what i can do?
