come on guys for future reference everyone mostly myself hehehe, wants to know , what the biggest rims and tyre we can fit on the 5 and the lowest amount we can drop them using the rims and tyre , we all would love to do this with modifing the fenders or rolling them even, i have been told that i can fit on the rear 20x10.5 with 295/25 tyre and 20x9.5 with 255/30 on front and it can be lowered up to 60mm and not rub , how i asked and was told its all to do with the right off set of the rims been used , thats coming from a source in breyton germany.
i just love the 10.5 on the rear and the 295 tyre is awesome looking but just wanted to do a bit of research my self , and info to be shared on the matter? even photos post away chaps i think there more than myself wondering on this one.

so that :
no1: rim size
no2: tyre size
no3: how many mm she dropped and what means of lowering been used , sport packs etc....
and last but least does it rub atall .
thanks.

This is a little but would 21s fit on a regular E60? I know they fit the M5, but would they be alright for the non-M5? I have 19s now with no drop, and the big gap is getting to me. If I go 20s I'm afraid I will still have gap and I don't want to lower my car. Is Hartge the only wheel right now that offers 21s for the M5? I think the only problem when fitting them into a regular E60 might be the offset. If a small enough tire is used then there shouldn't be any problems with clearance/turning. I don't know

I thought I remembered seeing someone on here showing a picture of an E60 with 22s.

One of the vendors, I think technik, put 21" BBS RSIIs on a regular e60. I saw the car at bimmerfest and it did look good, but the 20" radenergies right next to it looked just fine. Didn't notice a real difference in terms of size.

22s????

I think 20s would probably be the max most people would go. You start losing ride quality after that. I guess I'm thinking more on "looks" than being practical. If I had an M5 it would be a different story. Cidair's M5 with those Hartge wheels look real sharp.

Yeah, that would be going overboard. I just thought I saw it on this forum but I might be wrong.

As far as fit is concerned, you basically need to look at overall diameter and width of the tire. As you go up from a 18 to the 19/20/21, you drop down in wall thickness to try and fit - nothing new. The big key is the offset of the rim.

On the rears I have fit a 19 (166m rim), I think the offset is 28 (have to look up) with a 285x35x19 - no rub issues. I believe this is the biggest diameter tire you can fit on the back at the standard ride height.

On the front, the 166M has an aggressive 12mm offset. My 245x40x19 had a slight rub when I bottomed out. The front fender is already rolled - so there is not much more you can do here. I milled about 2mm off the front rims to change it to a 14mm offset so the tire is just inside the fender and my rub issues have gone away. The overall diameter of the tire will just kiss the well in the front, which can be pulled away a bit.

I believe you can go to a 255 series in the front, but you need to drop down in diameter.

You can use this as a guide to max diameters
