usually what you will find is that those (including myself) with M5 offsets purchased their wheels second hand, most likely take-offs from an actual M5. Those with M6 offsets with their 166's have purchased their wheel's new, from a dealer, and did their homework regading the offsets. The M6 offsets are actually preferred (fronts are the same for both), the rear M6 offsets push the wheels closer to the fender than the M5 offsets. A lot of members will add spacers to their M5 offset 166 wheels to get the look that the stock M6 offset gives. Neither will cause rubbing if you choose the right tires size....please use the search bar before asking that question
