My Ride: 2008 Silverstone II E60 M5 2012 E70 AW X5 50i Sport w/ LCI Aero Kit and Rocker Panels
The X5 is gloss black. The M5 is matte black. I considered gloss black, but felt it was too played out and too "blingy". Matte finishes just look evil and clean these days. They also give off a really nice contrast to the shiny paint on the car itself. Also, a much greater depth of field is perceived with matte lips and gives off a nice contrast to the semi-gloss graphite centers of the spokes. The R10's come with a polished lip and I was just tired of the "blingy" look. Gloss black would have continued with the "blingy" theme. The barrels were also refinished in matte to hide the brake dust.
