I want to connect to my E61 ipod with bmw original interface and use it as a source for big good system.
How can you get high quality signal for processor - optic probably. And of course to save all functionality: to control radio, ipod and volume from original buttons.
I am going to build system with bit one or alpine 701 and 3 way front, sub and 2 way back. But the begining - source is not clear to me.
Sorry nothing in search reasonable.

Your system is not bad but it is only part. And systems giving signals after headunit and factory amps are not so high level as aftermarket systems.
What I'm looking is how ideally integrated aftermarket high-end system to the factory idrive screen and control.

You definitely want to start with a DSP, and right now The JBL MS-8 is one of the best in the market right now.

But what do you think is better? Audison Bit One or JBL. I tried in my revious car Alpine h650 but it has a factory problem with high frequencies.
But honestly I think that it is better to use Alpine h701 as it has 5.1 processor and make it possible to build two systems in one (stereo hi-fi and multimedia).
On the other hand is a problem to get a source for h701.

I actually been using the Bitone for the past year and now have the MS-8. The MS-8 is definitely a lot better. The auto-tune feature actually works as advertised. I also had the H701 and you wont be able to use it without a Jl cleansweep because it does not have OEM integration. Go for the MS-8.
Here's a couple of threads of the ms-8. The first link is a 140 plus page thread.

Here a review and video on how to set it up

And here's JBL promotional video
If you want to use your existing fiber optic connection you can use
Bit One($899) with the Mobridge DA1000($700)

or
Motus Lab AGW+ 8-channel processor and MOST gateway($1300)

Thanks for this links.
So you mean that I still can use 701 if I really like with one of the optic converters (did you tried them, how good quality it is?)
Or I can just take high-voltage signal and use it with MS-8.
Honestly I was thinking about different option. It is VPA-B222 alpine and h701 plus amps and speakers. I think this option will give best quality. It is always better to have good soruce than trying to make factory headunit good.

Here's the thread when i initially installed the VPA-B222

And here's the pictures with the H701 and VPA-B222 VehicleHUB installed.

This was 3 years ago and a lot has changed since then. I did not have the options thats available now.
IMHO, just get the MS-8 with the factory unit and upgrade the speakers and get good quality amps to power the system. If you really have the money you can go for the Motus Lab AGW+. I like it better than the Bitone/Mobridge combo.
