+1, this is a commonly known issue with HID angel eyes, and why we also never sold them.

 

Don't think its heat, but the UV light that comes out of an HID lamp.

 

Made a bit of a research on this issue and according to it OEM halogen bulbs cause also burning the fiber optics after some time and I´ve also found out that, for example E92s a small glass or what is between the bulb and the fiber optics (AE). That little glass should be a UV filter, because that´s what couses the burning and yellowing of the fiber optics - the excessive UV exposure. I don´t know if the E60 also do have such a UV filter between the bulb and the AE, but I guess if E92s have, why other models should not have it? Also the guality of the HID bulbs is crucial, cause quality bulbs according to my findings are "wrapped" in UV protective glass, that prevents from yellowing issues of the fiber optics...

 

That is correct, OEM bulbs absolutely do cause burning. We've seen in many of the cars we've taken apart. The issues aren't reserved to the E92. We're telling you this from experience, we also sell HID angel eyes kits for people that really really want them, but we do not recommend them at all.

HID bulbs can claim coating this or UV coating that, but our experience says stay away. Besides, for the amount of wiring involved and cutting open the cap, and the relative failure rates as compared to LED, it's just as easy to go with the DTEC.

 

Correct good HID lamps use UV stop Quartz Glass.
But they still will contain high amount of short wave light. This together with heat which accelerate the discoloring browning of PC plastics. PMMA can handle this much better.
Basically the Agel eye rings are designed for halogen lights and not for HID's .
So yes LED's are a much better option as they contain less short wave light.

 

righto, but "good" HID bulbs aren't found in H8 varieties You're referring to good Philips, Osram, etc. Those aren't rebased bulbs like H8s are.

 

How come E92s have no issues with HID bulbs causing burned fiber opitcs. How come E60s have than??? E92 ange eyes aren´t designed ford HID bulbs either, are they? I would be really happy with LEDs like the DTEC are, or whatever else, if those could be as freaking bright as HIDs are. Unfortunatelly this is not the case....if it was, nobody would buy HIDs....

 

Both E92 and E60s have issues.

Dtec are like 90% of the brightness with 100% of the reliability.

This 10w HID was developed for back lamps; is a success.
I processed it and attached this to Angel eyes.
To date a ring does not change color in yellow.

Well....I somehow won´t believe, untill I don´t see that Dtecs are that bright. Can you post photos of those LEDs in an E60? 90% sounds really impressive and those 10% of difference between HIDs and LEDs would be even hard to realize (that would be minimal).
