Hi Everyone,

I recently purchased a set of 20" Radenergie R10s and love them. But I have 2 problems:


1. In order to fix the TPMS failure, will I need to swap the TPMS sensors from my stock setup (will this break them) onto the Rads or do I need to purchase new ones?

2. There is slight vibration throughout the cabin - is this just due to the harsher ride since I'm coming from the std 17" setup?



I'm also going to lower my car with the Eibach Pro-Kit- will this only further compound the vibration or will it remain the same?

You can use your existing TPMS sensors (assuming they'll fit your new wheels) or you can just get new ones. They're not terribly expensive so it's probably easier just to get a new set that you're sure will fit the wheels you have...

Vibrations can come from many places but if you just developed one after changing wheels and tires, it's very likely that you have a balance problem. Do you know if the installer did a road-force balance?

 

I guess I should just purchase a new set of TPMS instead of swapping them - seems like a bit of a hassle to swap them.

The installer just popped the new wheels on- no balancing. I'm probably just going to take them down to Firestone Tire shop and get an alignment and balancing.

You have to be kidding me...is this a picture of the guy who did the install?

 

 

Also, check that they installed metal centering rings. If they didn't use them at all, or if they used plastic, there can be slight misalignment that causes vibrations.

I am with the last poster.

The inside diameter on the BMW wheel is usually 72.56mm.

Most aftermarket wheels are usually 74.1mm or larger, so they will fit on a larger variety of automobiles.

The rings that are used to allow the wheel to fit snug on the BMW hub can sometimes not fit very well, and your wheel will be off center.

If you can, go to a place that has a road force alignment machine. Firestone usually does not carry this type of machine. The roadforce machine spins the wheel and tire at high speeds to note any balance problems. They then recheck the balance after they put the weights on the wheel.

In addition, check the aftermarket wheels to see if one is defective. Sometimes they drill the center hole in the wrong place (just 0.05 mm off center), and this issue can cause a vibration disaster.
