I am a bit confused and since all these tires sizes are special order I want to get it right.
What setup is best for a set of OEM 166's on a 2005 525i non sport package, I do not want any problems with rubbing but I would like the least amount of gap.

Dealer reccomends
Front 245/35/19
Back 275/30/19

Thee other two setups I have heard of are;

Front 245/40/19
Back 275/35/19

And

Front 245/35/19
Back 285/30/19

Also any thoughts on Brigestone Potenza 960s
Thanks...I appreciate any help before I order my tires!

Since you are on non sport, there's going to be huge gap. 1-2 inches. I suggest you lower it with eibachs pro kit which drops it 1.2 all around, or HR sport which drops 1.3 front and 1.2 rear.

If you want the rear tires to looks fat and wide, go with 285. But not many manufactures produce this size, so you might have to buy higher cost tires. I think with Potenza A50 something, they are $1200 for the entire setup. Pirelli are 1500+. If you want to save money, go with 275/30 in the rear and 245/35 up front with General Exclaim @ tirerack. They are $600 total ship and has fantastic reviews. That's the setup I will have and many other forum members run such as vegastrashed and alpinewhite.

I agree with MikeBuzzSaw, if you're upsizing wheels there will be a HUGE gap that's going to bug you. Springs or coilovers are in your future; springs being the cheaper route.

The recommended BMW tire size for 19"s are what the dealer quoted you. If you run 245/40/19 and 275/35/19, you'll throw off your speedometer readings.
