Okay - check out the Dension website for full product details.
* Yes the GW500 supports flash drives/ USB and also takes an AV input (extra module required for Video etc).
* I do not think that the GW500 will playback video format through an i drive screen. Though it will playback through a conventional scree.
* I believe that Dension are working on a mod to allow cars with the TV function on the i drive to be able to interface.
GW500 should be able to help out here.

Unfortunately even with the latest BMW SW, your car is not able to handle MP3 on CDC port. Your Dension distributor must know this. You can try the following DIP-SW setting OFF-ON-OFF-OFF (instead of ON-ON-OFF-OFF), but this setting won't display text on i-Drive.
3. You see CD CD1 CD2 CD3 ... CD6, and can select CD5. Everything should work in this case.

Thanks for your help/ patience. To answer your question;
1. I think you are right - BMW need to enable the CDC function.
2. I have this type of stereo (business) with Single CD & 6.5" screen. - My CD Player just shows CD1 - ie for track one on a CD, CD2 for track 2 and so on.
So If this is the case - Am i wasting my time with the GW500?
I am about ready to send the GW500 back and get a refund. I am not willing to pay a further ??? just to have the the thing enabled!!!

Matt, did you get this working yet? I'm still interested in seeing pics of how you split the optical wire.
