Hey guys, so i'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a GW500, however, what coding do I need?

I have a 2006 M5 with MP3 in dash CD and CDC in the glove box. I'd like to keep my CDC and just add the dension GW500 on top of that. Is that possible? And, what coding will I need from the dealer?

Thanks

The install manual has the option to daisy chain the CDC w/ the GW500 ... since you already got CDC I don't think you need further coding but if you do iPod interface is the coding you need.

in your scenario (Navigation and already plays MP3s) you don't need a trip to the dealer. it will be plug and play. there is a small switch on the aux-in box of the dension that lets you switch back and forth between the CD changer and the dension. Trust me, you will never use it.

I don't have the AUX option on my Idrive though. So, how would I access the dension when its plugged in? Would I go under the CD Menu? I want to use the USB functionality of the dension mostly. I thought I would go under the AUX option in the I-Drive.

Thanks guys

yes, you access it as if it was the CD changer, only instead of tracks you'll see the folders on the USB drive that you can drill down into. no aux coding needed.

hmm i almost wish it was aux coded. In any case, so if i want to switch between the CDC and the GW500, there is a switch on the GW500 that allows me to do so correct?

lol sorry, 1 last question, reading a previous post, I'm not sure if the poster mis-understood me. By playing MP3s, I meant the in dash CD player can play MP3 CDs. I do NOT currently have Ipod coding. Will I need the Ipod coding from the dealer?

Thanks
